how to get started with creative endeavors
how does one start a creative endeavor? is there one simple trick? is there a life hack? do you have to go to school? once knowledge is acquired from school or your sister, brother, cousin or uncle then do you have to ask permission from someone to start being creative? are there forms to fill out? a club to join?

you just start. Start somewhere. Oh yeah brett if it’s so easy then how do I just start? Glad you asked. Pick something you want to do and do it. If you hit a road block or dead end change the method of path of what you are doing. Here is a real world example from my life of doing things. The pandemic started and I was out

The pandemic started and I was out of a job, I didn’t really have much of a job anyway. I was teaching part time, making art and living off an artist fellowship which amount of dollars was dwindling. I make art in whatever medium I have an idea for. My ideas range from the conceptual to the tangible and everywhere in between. Oh for fucks sake brett just get on with it!
Okay ok. I wanted to put my sounds on streaming services. Services like apple music and spotifiy etc. but I didn’t know how to do this. I didn’t have a record label. I didn’t even know really how to get on one. I have performed sound stuff in public before and I have even contributed audio for other peoples projects on bandcamp. Yep I knew about bandcamp but never really looked into it. I have been around the art and sound/ noise scene in my home city of St. Louis for a long time. Still I couldn’t put two and two together to make four. Look I have had my art work in museums but still I remained ignorant of how to get stuff on streaming services. Okay the pandemic happens and bartenders all over the world are laid off. My friend brett underwood was one of those bartenders. Brett is a poet he writes and performs poetry. Anyway Eric Hall : http://www.wwwerichall.com/ asked several musicians to contribute to a compilation of music in honor of Underwood. Hall put the compilation on bandcamp. I didn’t really have any idea where to start.
